Looks to me like it has 89 main movie titles. Anydvd won't touch it, gonna try some other methods.

Anydvd + Ripit4me seems to be getting it done.

Title 54 appears to be the main movie title. All others are "unreferenced".

DVDFab Plat does this one but there's a lot of cleaning that needs to be done after the rip. 754 uncalled PGCs among many other discrepancies. Using PgcEdit and FixVTS I was able to remove 141 useless files.

This seems to have not worked either.

The only experience I've had with PgcEdit and FixVTS was when they were part of Ripit4me. Are these programs automatic and/or easy to navigate?

Also, when I ripped the DVD with DVD Fab, the main titleset VOBs would not playback without corruption.

I haven't purchased this DVD (yet). Is this, as stated at Amazon.com, a Universal release?

If so, this would mark the first time ever Universal has applied newer copy protection to an R1 DVD - and only the second time for any region:

Yes.
Looking at the disc in My Computer it states 692 files at 401gb! (This is not a misprint)
Although the Fab report states the fake VTS's were removed they were replaced by dummies. All the vob's are at 14kb. Using PgcEdit I had to remap VTST 54 (main movie) to VTST 1 and then delete forty something titlesets in order to get the perfect backup. There's a lot of crap on this one. Started out with 171 files and the finished product has 30 files. That's 141 useless files removed.

Latest AnyDVD should handle it just fine.

Old version of DVDFab can already handle the protection on Reservation Road. For other programs, they need an update since it's a "new" protection.

Surprisingly, RipIt4me v.1.6.4 successfully (though not as elegantly as usual) ripped a full disc backup of the R1 version of "Reservation Road" and its latest version of "XProtect" copy protection...

BTW - It was rather annoying to discover that, undoubtedly due to the outrageous protection scheme, the purchased original DVD would not play on 5 DVD players, all different brands - ranging in age from 3 years to two months (including a Toshiba HD-A3)!

I used my usual latest version of DVDFab HDDecrypter in conjunction with DVD Shrink and had no problems. I did notice that their were a lot of files. Regardless, I was able to get a perfect back-up without any road blocks.
