Hello,

Sorry for this one. I really am not sure where this particular problem should reside, but please help.

Because I have a notebook computer (WinXP), the harddrive on my system itself is limited, not to mention, subpar in all aspects of performance, as compared to the modern day harddrives, thus I added a 100gb firewire harddrive. I had been using the firewire drive normally for my everyday purposes, (copying, downloading, running apps, compiling stuff, ripping CD's, etc) and it seem to function perfectly. BUT, recently, an interesting thing happened as I tried to use some of the Gknot softwares.

Simplest case is after I have a completed conversion of a movie to Divx4 format, and it resides on drive on notebook. The resultant file is perfect (in terms of no errors). When I use Nandub and try to simply splice out 50 megs from it onto the same drive on the notebook, the spliced selection is perfect also. But if I try to splice out the EXACT 50 megs from it onto a FIREWIRE drive, the file is shown to be corrupt. I compared the file sizes, EXACTLY the same. But that other file residing on the firewire drive cannot be opened by media player OR The Playa (or Nandub itself, for that matter).

The same situation occurs if I try to use the Gknot divx4 conversion for the video portion. Video turns out fine on the drive attached to computer, but messed up when encoded directly onto a firewire harddrive.

Can anyone offer some suggestions as to why this is happening? Are there any experts out there in terms of this? I thank all of you for reading thus far, and please offer any help if at all possible.

Thank you for your time.
Sam:)
