merge mpeg files

Hi,
I am searching for a software that gives me the possibility to automatically merge mpeg files wit a predetermined criteria (Example: given a directory, merge all files contained in it logged during the same day).
I have a videocamera with hard disk; since every files generated correspond to a capture, when I download files on the PC hard disk, I obtain a huge amount of files that take me a lot of time to be merged in order to produce a DVD that give me the possibility to easily move between different days.

I have te same problem, hehe. Everytime you push the Rec/Stop button, the Camera start writing a new file. After filming a whole day, you have like 40 mpg files.

Load all the MPGs into DGIndex, make a D2V for them all, and it'll give you all the audio merged as well. Use that D2V together with MPEG2Source in your AviSynth script for doing the encoding. It's all explained in the QuickStart Guide included in the DGMPGDec package:

If I understand well your message, you are describing the process that give me the possibility only to merge my files that I previously "manually" loaded into DGIndex, it seems to me that this isn't an automated process that merge all files logged during a day stored in a direstory.
Is this correct?

That's correct. But what I described is certainly easy enough to do, although perhaps better if separated into different folders, the ones you want to encode separately. Highlight the first one and Shift/Down Arrow to get the rest.

You can automate the process from a batch file as well using DGIndex.

Is there a way without encoding? Encoding and editing can be done with Adobe Premiere Pro (or other edit software). But I wan't to merge it al togather without encoding...

open the first file, and it will automatically ask you if you want to append the others. (this assumes they are sequentially ordered like movie01.mpeg, movie02.mpeg...etc..). If not, you "append" all using ctrl-shift select to highlight all in the directory

leave the video and audio sidebar settings to "copy", change the format to mpeg-ps (a+v), press save with extension (e.g. "myfile.mpeg")

does that work with .ts files? i got avidemux 2.4 but ctrl-shift wont let me select more then one file at a time.

for .ts files you should use HDTVtoMPEG2.
