I have just downloaded FAVC, and for the life of me, can't figure out how to insert the source file, I tried opening the magnifing glass icon, get to the file I need, then it gives me the option to "open" when I click on it nothing happens. If someone would be good enough to advise me, please make it in laymens terms, as I am not a Techie.

Click the magnifying glass. (a Window opens up)
Click the file you want to convert.
Click Open (bottom-right):)
There suppose to be a file in the source window now.

Did You install NET Framework 2.0 as well as AVISynth.dll ?
Because if You didn't then You need to start there.
I've seen Favc bugg-out when I pinned it to the Start Menu, I don't exactly know why? but I guess it's because of registry entries that are written when a program gets installed via Windows Installer 3.1 & Favc isn't actually installed but rather just spilled out into a folder. But if You gotta have a Start Menu shortcut then place one on the desktop & drag it to the Start Menu it Will work that way(strange).
Download & install AVISynth /download & install NET.2.0 /reboot & launch Favc.
PS: You actually started a new Favc thread & 4 links down from where You posted is all the info & help You need.
Good Luck!

unrox you are trying to load a DVD.
Probably double-clicking the VIDEO_TS would open the folder but I think FAVC isn't supporting VOB files AFAIK.
I don't know what you try to do but I think you are trying to shrink a DVD.
There we have programs like DVDshrink and DVD rebuilder for.
Good luck
