I rebuilt my computer last night (hardware and software)...and now can only rip at 1.2x. I can't remember the model of my dvd-rom but it's a older Pioneer 16x. It used to rip at ~8x...now only 1.2x? what did i do wrong? I checked the firmware it seems to be installed correctly...what could be the problem...cause this really sux right now.

did you install the via drivers for your motherboard????? I had your problem too and after installing the via drivers for my motherboard my dvd rom could rip at 8x speed again. if that doesn't work i don't know the solution. hope this helps

In win95/98 it will be located in the device manager under the DVD drive. W2K will have it under the IDE controller. Mine ripped at 1.2x with it off, 8x with it on.
