Script for making video clips run in random order?

Hi everyone,

I'm about to start editing a promotional DVD for a record label and was wondering if there was a way of when it comes to the authouring stage to have some script embedded into the DVD to make video clips of about 30 seconds to play in a random order, but without stopping an audio track from playing whilst it changes to a new video clip?

So for example, have the DVD contain 10x 30 second clips and 5x 5 minute music tracks, and once the user chooses a track to listen to the video clips are played out of order, or randomly, but as the clips change the music continues to play.

Or am I being ridiculous?

Tick shuffle or random in the PGC. However, the audio will match what is in each cell.

Welcome to the forum!

The only way to do what you want is to author the clips in several multi-angle cells. You need a powerful authoring program, and much work! Anyway, if you want to change the clips at random, you will need to insert a cell command after each clip, and that will produce a little pause on most players. Also, keep in mind that multi-angle cells consume much disc space. Furthermore, you will be limited to 8 video clips per cell. So, the method is difficult, expensive, and not satisfactory!

Blutach's method is much easier, and can be done with almost any authoring program, but, as he said, the audio will change when the video changes.

you may create a faily large random placement of the clips in a few video streams and when one ends you may switch to another.

i.e lets suppose that you have 30 clips of 30 secs each. You create 10 or more m2v with these clips places randomnly one after another. This way you will end with 10 versions of each with different previous and next clip.

If 10 versions are not enough you may make more.
