PureVideo Decoder and MPC/KMP

Hi,
I prefer KMP for video playback and I was having some problems with H.264/MP4 files in it (some kind of hdd activity but no video). I tried VLC and it can't seem to skip forward and backward. I have a geforce 8400 GS in my notebook and recently learned about the purevideo decoder and downloaded a trial version but I cannot get it to play MP4/H264 files using KMP or MPC (even after adding the external decoders). Can anyone guide me through this?

Here's what I did to enable Purevideo through MPC. First, select VMR9 renderless under output. Make sure that mpeg-2 video is not selected under internal filters. On the external filters page, add the Nvidia video decoder ONLY and set it to preferred.

I have a quick question for fellow nvidia users. On the Nvidia control panel, there is an option called Use Inverse telecine. I use MPC+ffdshow for playing DVDs and I cannot see that this option does anything either when enabled or disabled. Does this feature work only with certain software players or does using ffdshow with mpc render this feature useless.

I think that PureVideo can only play BR/HDDVD discs etc. What I wanted to know was if there is any way I can make it play H.264 files in mp4 containers?

From my experience NVIDIA VIDEO Decoder from PureVideo package can only decode MPEG2. Maybe something changed in latest version, I'm using old one.
For H.264/AVC use Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD7.x) from PowerDVD package. Check "Use DxVA" on properties window of this filter.
Changes made in Options/External Filters affects only MCP. If you want set Cyberlink H.264/AVC Decoder (PDVD7.x) as preferred H.264/AVC filter for whole system, then set MERIT of this filter to the value higher than other DS filters decoding H.264/AVC have.
You can use GSpot for this.

Alternately note that MPC has its own built-in DXVA decoder now, in case you want to try it without purchasing cyberlink.

The Inverse Telecine feature from the nvidia control panel worked for me with ntsc DVDs + Reclock + nvidia purevideo mpg2 decoders. (using forceware 174.74.. first non crappy drivers in a while)

With certain dvd movies flagged for 2:3 pulldown, when Inverse Telecine is enabled, the movie plays at 47.95fps and if you use Runevent.vbs (ReClock), resolution changes for cinema contents and byebye judder. (awesome)

If Inverse Telecine is disabled in Nvidia, the movie plays at 59.94fps, ReClock detects NTSC contents and there is judder (since it will think this is video contents, not cinema)

Thanks for the info. I think I figured out why it wasn't working. I like to have ffdshow set to process raw video so I can use its filters on videos; however, ffdshow doesn't support dxva and thus, purevideo's magic was disabled. Purevideo seems to work fine as long as there are no filters between it and the output renderer.

P.S., I am using driver 174.74 with nvidia's dvd decoder on MPC under Vista SP1. Its a shame that Reclock doesn't work on Vista (I miss using it).
