Hi all,

I tried joining the Cuttermaran English forum to see if they could help me but my command of German is not good enough to figure out the buttons once I'm in!

I have a problem running Cuttermaran on an XP 64 system. I have placed all the HCEnc files in the relevant subdirectory, including the actual executable just to be sure. However, when I try to run Cuttermaran with the encoding option set on, I get an error message at the encode stage to the effect: "this program can only be run from Cuttermaran" - which is of course exactly what I am trying to do!

I'm wondering if this is related to the unusual naming of the XP 64 32-bit Program Files directory.

Any clues?

Thanks.

The HCEncProvider.exe and HCEncProvider.Configuration.xml is in your *:\cuttermaran\provider\encode folder?

Yes they are. I even put the executable in there just to make sure. The provider seems to find the software but refuses to execute it because it thinks the request is not coming from Cuttermaran (which it is).

I dont know anything about XP64 File system.
Just make sure things look like this:

Works for me with HCEnc_019.exe renamed to HCEnc.exe.

Damn, Imageshack is slow as hell again:devil::p

..and of course you need a YV12 capable codec installed -> Xvid, Divx, Helix, etc.

Thanks. I'll double check all that but I suspect it's already as in your examples. I'm not sure if I've renamed HCEnc so I'll check on that too.

I have both Xvid and Divx installed.

I decided to give up on my quest to get HC working and gave QuEnc a turn. Worked like a charm!

I still have no idea what is wrong with the HC provider but it does now get detected as a worm by AVG.

It's a false alarm. Many UPX packed executables are blamed from some Anti Virus programs as malware because their analysis sucks.
Load the file up to http://www.virustotal.com and you will see...
Sorry HCEnc is not working at your side.

Thanks Taurus, I wondered if that may be the case.

I'm still using HCEnc with FAVC and for my own direct encodes - no problems at all!
