mp3 audio on svcds?

so dspguru tells me he created an svcd that had mp3 audio on it and it worked (via spdif out). has anybody made the same experience?

I read somewhere that its possible to use TMPGEnc to encode an audio only VCD that squeezes up to 8 hours of MP3 on a VCD that can play back on most DVD players.

Does anyone know if this is possible and if so, how do you actually do it?
