View Full Version : VirtualDub 25fps to 23.976215 -- Bug fix???

I'm trying to do a direct-stream-copy frame rate "source rate adjustment" of a PAL film with Vdub, but output will either be 23.976215 or 23.975640 instead of the desired 23.976(043).
What solutions are there which do not require re-encoding?
(Addendum: If I use Vdub's "change" setting, I'll get 23.976, but it'll drop frames; and, for some reason, there is still a sync problem with PAL>NTSC-converted audio.)

Source rate adjustment...?
Why not try Frame rate conversion (Convert fps to)?
(Of corse used actual version VirtualDub.)

Because it removes/decimates frames as a kludge, when the only problem is one of timing (and Vdub's buggy arithmetic); there may also still e slight audio sync problems in long films when it's remerged.
-- This is all about taking an already created rip of a PAL release and restreaming/retiming it to 23.976fps so the audio isn't tinny. This is a very useful trick for properly correcting a rip made from a DVD whose region 2 PAL DVD is of much higher quality than the region 1 NTSC version.

You could use an AVS script with AssumeFPS(23.976). I do this for all of my PAL to NTSC-24 rips and it works like a charm. The audio I convert with BeSweet.
