View Full Version : TS to VOB transcoding software?

I searched for a tool that could do this, but couldn't find anything, as this is my first foray into this territory, and therefore don't know what I'm looking for!

1) Is there a lossless transcoding program that can take the MPEG-2 video and an audio stream from a DVB-T or DVB-S TS stream, and place them in a DVD-ready VOB? They're both DVD compliant, so this should work pretty much out of the box, right?

2) Is there a program that can write the IFO files with the VOBs already present so that all that's required is burning to disc?

That question doesn't apply if the same software for 1) can do the IFO writing.

3) As an aside, is there something out there that can write chapters in the IFO where the adverts are? Manually searching for the chapter times is absolutely fine.

And the reason I'm after said software is because I have an HTPC project (that's not for me, but for a relative) in its very early stages and would like to experiment to make it almost idiot-proof, ideally command-line usable so I can stick a front-end that's basically a clickable button along the lines of "convert program to DVD".

Free software would be best, open source even better, that way if pushed I can add the features I require myself. :D

*bump* Anything?

I tried a batch file with DGIndex 1.50RC3 and muxman 0.15R, but muxman chokes on delays that are higher than 300 each way for some reason, so an alternative DVD muxer would be helpful. :)

Hi!

If you've extracted a DVD-compliant audiostream from the DVB-T or DVB-S TS stream and you already have a DVD-compliant MPEG-2 vidoestream, you can use DVDFlick to create a DVD... (No menu)

If I understand what you're saying, you have Mpeg2 TS files which have DVD resolution specs and thus wouldn't require re-encoding.

I suppose you can demux by using Xport.exe by DrMpeg

To mux into VOB, you can use Muxman 0.15 with the BatchMux commandline automator. Both can be found in the FAVC zip package.

You can use DGindex to demux, but you might have to run delaycut http://jsoto.posunplugged.com/tools/delaycut_1212_exe.zip
on the subsequent audio stream to fix the delay. All scriptable.
