Hi guys, I bought a new camera that records movies in MOV format, the files have a nice quality but are HUGE.

I would like to know if any of you fine gentlemen can recommend an easy way (or a name of software) to convert the MOV files into smaller AVI files while maintaining the quality of the movie as much as possible.

Many thanks,
Toast.

Hi!

If you perform a simple Googlesearch for "MOV to AVI", you'll find a plethora of possibilities ;>}

hm yes, google..

The issue is not the conversion itself (from MOV to AVI) but how to do so while maintaining the quality. I tried a lot of tools from google and they're all crap, the video quality degrades too much.

Let me rephrase the question, is there a good guide to converting MOV to AVI in an efficient way?

Thanks,
Toast.

If your MOVs are from DV-CAM or Digital camera you can use freeware MP4CAM2AVI (http://mp4cam2avi.sourceforge.net/ )
It Transcodes (from MOV to AVI) with no recompression or to xVID in a very easy way.
Good Luck!
