This is my first time using ffdshow for any kind of encoding. When configuring an xvid encoding for 2pass. The option to set the kbps is grayed out.
If I set the mode to 'one pass- average bitrate' the option to set my kbps is there. Is there a way for me to set the kbps for two passes?

You have to configure the two passes separately. So, the first pass you encode as 2pass - first pass, and the second pass you encode as 2pass - second pass, and then you can specify a bitrate :)

Sorry for sounding like an noob, but I still don't follow.
I'm using Tmpgenc Xpress with the AVI output template so I can use ffdshow. When I try to set the encoding mode there is three 2 pass options:
two passes-1st pass
two passes-2nd pass int,
two passes-2nd pass ext
When I select each of those modes I do not get an option to select my bitrate. The only option I get for second pass configuration is to set the max bitrate.
I can encoded a video with two pass - 1st pass option. It actually only does a 1 pass encode, and I don't have the option to select my bitrate so I don't know how it works.
