Performance Differences Between CCP SP and Basic in DVD-RRB?

Learned Colleagues:

Been running an old copy of CCP SP 2.5 and finally got tired of having the windows pop up in the middle of my work so I picked up Basic 2.7. I'm about to do a new build and wanted all the latest software for Vista and my new hardware.

In my hands, basic runs much, much slower than SP, running at speeds of 2 while SP runs at 4.5.

Question are:

1. Is Basic slower because it's basic or because it's way improved over and old version of SP?

2. Is Basic running slower than SP because of some setting I'm not engaging? If so, please let me know

3. Does the newer Baisic do a better job than my old SP?

OK, it gets better. I tried with the old CCE SP and I got speeds of 2 with that too!!? I reinstalled a system that was prior to my loading of Basic and my speeds were back up in the 4s with SP 2.5.

So ignore the previous questions and riddle me this...

What software or settings can screw up CCE to slow it down by 1/2?

I restored my system to a point previous to the CCE Basic install and CCE SP 2.5 was running at 4.5 again.

Do you think that Basic installed a slower engine or something?
