Very Noob Question

probably a really dumb question but i've looked everywhere and tried for about 2 months to do this so its legit.

I have no idea how to even start encoding in x264, is there a program where i can select input/output source? I am making videos in sony vegas and i tried to make it appear on the render selection list and its not there.

Basically, i have NO idea how to encode in this format. Can someone explain it or link me to a thread with a detailed explanation?

Sorry, I just cant find what i need through search and I can't find any source of an FAQ thread. A suitable sticky for this forum would probably be "How to use 264"

1- learn how to create and use AVS scripts (read (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=25002))

2- "how to use x264", well, you have several ways to do so. use one of GUI, which this forum (http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=78) full of GUIs, and I would recommend MeGUI.
