Hi, all.

I taped a television show on my standalone DVD recorder, from which I would like to remove the commercials. Now, I used DVD Decrypter in Wine to rip the video to a single *.vob file (which includes both audio and video streams). This *.vob file plays just fine in Totem.

How do I edit out the commercials without re-encoding the movie?

I thought I could perhaps create custom chapters around commercial breaks, burn that to a DVDRW, then re-rip it chapter-by-chapter using DVD Decrypter. Unfortunately, the software I usually use for authoring DVDs (QDVDAuthor) doesn't recognize the *.vob file.

I thought maybe VOBEdit might work, but I can't get that to run in Wine. Whenever I try, nothing happens--not even an error message.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, guys!
