Regarding News item about BD+

1) Does this file include the "(HD)" capabilities (NOT included in filename)?

2) Is this an upgrade for registered owners only?

3)Is this a demo version for everyone (If so, what are limitations)?

The limitations are as always 21 days, and no use of the online key update server.. meaning that for the most recent discs, you won't be able to rip them since the VUK isn't included (even though registered owners will be able to rip the disc because their version can connect to the key server and get the appropriate key).

And, as always, the HD version is just a key upgrade.. it's the same software and always has been (except for when AnyDVD HD was still in beta.. though then the HD beta also ripped DVDs).

And those download files are fill installations (also always have been).

Thinking about going BD, seta? :) The quality is truly amazing if you haven't already gone HD. With this latest version of AnyDVD, protection's no longer an issue. High prices, well, that's another issue altogether.

Actually, I continue to be in the process of accumulating low-priced HD-DVDs, primarily for eventual historical purposes.

Additionally,I had fairly recently obtained a Toshiba HD-A3 standalone player - and after seeing its absolutely magnificent upconverting capability regarding standard DVDs (I have a very substantial collection), I have no sense of urgency regarding BluRay - although I fully intend to "keep up" with the flow of information in the BluRay arena.

BTW - The "trigger" for me to get actively involved with BluRay will be when the price of BluRay burnable media (and BluRay burners, as well as standalone players) becomes realistic and practical...

This is certainly huge news for BD fans. I love being able to make an ISO of my movie and just mount it at will on my HTPC. HD DVD was easy to do that with and because it was a finished standard there was never a reason to upgrade your player. BD is a moving target and requires updates constantly. With BD+ in the mix, it was often a royal pain. You had to keep PowerDVD 3319a installed for BD+ protected titles and the latest PowerDVD for new titles. We were getting to a point where the new titles with BD+ weren't going to work in 3319a anymore. Fortunately, thanks to the persistence and incredible talent of the Slysoft guys, we can now play our BD+ ISO's with any version of PowerDVD or other software that we want.

I have followed Quadcore sticky to get ISO from Blue Ray, and I
cannot get that ISO to be played by PowerDVD. I did download the UDF 2.50 files update from Nero, and I can read within windows XP the content of the BD, did the the remux with TSRemux, and created an ISO from new structure with ImagBurn, BUT no luck at playing that ISO. I get only errors when trying to play it in PowerDVD. Any help? I also have tried Daemon tools to load ISO in the virtual drive. It does not load and does not play! What did I do wrong? I made sure that Imagburn what burning in UDF Rev 2.50.

What folders did you include in the ISO. It MUST have the certificate folder plus the bdmv folder in order to work.

Here's my original script for making ISO's from folders. Others have improved upon it lately, but, the basic idea works fine. Just point it at a parent directory by setting the SRC variable and then give it the directory containing the BDMV and CERTIFICATE folders. I call it makeISO.bat and put it in the path. Then you can just call it on whatever movie you want and it'll make an ISO with that name.

on the BDMV folder and clicked again on Certificate to have it included, Correct?

yes, both must be included else PowerDVD8 will not play it.

And yea, we need to know more information if you want us to help trouble shoot. My guess is you're using some version of PowerDVD 8 Ultra which is very picky when it comes to what it'll play. PowerDVD 7 Ultra was more lenient.

As I mentioned at the top of this thread, I'm accumulating HD-DVDs as "collectibles" - and would love to be able to purchase them, as you've stated, at less than $1 each.

Myabe the MPAA can take note and reduce prices of BDs accordingly - it's obvious that once prices decline, people will better embrace the format.
