Will a blu-ray rip play in a PS3?

Hi, i'm quite new to this forum and the backupping, but i wonder this: i've been able to dump and decrypt(with anydvd HD) my BR disc of casino Royale that i got with my ps3. And now i wonder if i burn these files to a blanco blu ray disc and put it in my ps3, will it be able to play ? or do i need to do something special with the files ?

Yes, that usually works nice.
Unless the disc has BD+ (which will be cracked some time soon, though).

I think Casino Royale is BD+ free (but some MGM titles may have BD+ )...

Hmm, not "just like that", but almost.
I think there are some threads here that cover creating BD backup discs.
But in short: if you're using nero, you'll have to make sure that UDF2.5 is selected. If you don't select that file system manually, you'll get a copy that won't work.

But other than that - there's not much that can go wrong.

(hope you're using BD-RE discs for a start... :-) )

I would recommend making an ISO image of the original with AnyDVD running. That will keep the file system (udf 2.5) in tact. Then you can burn your ISO image to you blank Blu-ray disc. You can use CloneCD, Nero, ImgBurn, etc to read and write the ISO image.

SamuriHL thats a grait id ! i think i better do that to avoid any problems cus those discs are expensive xD

btwn: is there any way to loose things like subtitles and audio tracks to fit it on a single layer blu-ray or something ?

There is, but, it's rather complicated right now. You'd also lose the menus. IOW, there's no tool like CloneDVD for HD material to make it simple to remaster discs. You would have to use something like tsremux to grab the streams you want and make a new BD structure out of it. Then you'd have a folder on the hard drive that you'd have to burn to disc, making sure to use UDF 2.5 file system. There are plenty of guides on doing this so I won't rehash it here. Search for tsremux on this forum and you'll find plenty of instructions.

Just buy one or two 50 GB BD-RE discs (Panasonic, for example, which are available on Amazon and eBay) and simply burn .isos or folders (using udf 2.5) as they are. BD-RE discs allow data to be rewritten up to 100,000 times, so if something goes wrong, you just start over.

I suspect someday we'll see something like a CloneBD or whatever, but, it won't be any time soon. Hell, we can't even get a decent player! :) PowerDVD Ultra is not all that great, IMO. And there aren't (yet) any viable contenders. ArcSoft has potential some day. WinDVD just came out with version 9 that supports BD and HD DVD, so, that might be ok but I'm not spending 100 bucks to find out. (No BD support in the trial). Anyway, some day I'm sure we'll see the tools we all want that'll make it as easy as it is for DVD's today.
