It seems like the number of people building a seperate computer to use primarily with their home entertainment systems (like playing divx movies, mp3s, games, and now dvd backups) is increasing. I was just wondering how many of you plan on building a seperated computer, or already have built a system for this reason. I also wanted to know how many of those people that said yes to the first question would consider buying a computer case that looks more like a home dvd player than a computer.
How about something like a black anodized aluminum miniATX case around 3" Tall X 15" Wide X 17" Deap, with room for a standard power supply, and room for two 5 1/4" drives and two 3 1/2" drives. And how much would you guys pay for a computer case like that?
Thanks alot.

I'm running three computers right now, two desktops and a laptop. The two desktops are used for your aforementioned purposes and I built each with ripping speed in mind as well as overall functionality and performance.

I probably wouldn't buy that case because I prefer mid-towers and server cases but if you're intending on using that case to house a dedicated divx player, it would probably work rather well with a home theater set up. Again, I feel that if I'm going to build a quasi-computer, I might as well go all out and build the whole enchilada.

If I had the money I would just buy a laptop with a dvd player and decent videocard with s-video out. I have seen some really nice slim pc's that are coming out which would be good as divx players as well. There may be a market but it would be a small one... as soon as the xbox is able to play divx (that is if it can't already) then your suggestion becomes less likely to be successful.

Hi
I'm using 2 PC's: 1 for divx, games, big data.... and the other for java.
I wouldn't buy an extra PC only for DivX because my Systems are good enough and do 4 Rips per day per PC
Even P3 Systems should be good enough for DivX
