File Sizes

hi every one

i am trying to rip movie with megui, when i gave projected file size

of 2 cds ,after rippings it is getting odd sizes. the sizes are getting

changed. somes times it is getting as 3 cd rip.

any seetings must be changed in video profile.

yep all are perfect. but i dnt understand why this problem comes

Can you post the length (in seconds) of how long each clip is that you're converting, and what the output size is when you do convert?

i am trying DVD9 source in to 2 cd rip (1.36gb)

and length of the movie is 9000 sec

Hey Mac1. I looked at your settings............. couldn't find anything wrong with it :confused:

Is the sound being compressed as well? 1200kbps for 9000 seconds means you can fit the video on 2 CDs, but not video+sound. Maybe that's throwing off the calculations?

Maybe someone else at Doom9 knows the answer.............otherwise, I'm out of ideas :eek:

Post the .avs file that is being used and, possibly, the log of the encode run (you'll find it in C:\Program Files\megui\logs, the filename is based on the encoding date).

EDIT: and please answer fibbingbear's last questions too :)

The source material might be too complex for your bitrate and quantizer settings.

I know its a default preset from MeGui and lots of people swear on that, but I would loose the max. quantizer settings a bit.

Also I would check that your audio transcoding is correct (sizes).

min quant 3... max quant 5...
remove those restrictions and use the default 2 - 31 settings so the ratecontrol may actually do something...
before making a new profile is always a good idea to LOAD THE DEFAULTS...

@fibbingbear: the settings are NOT ok at all... with those quants restrictions the encoder cant hit the required bitrate.

Thanks for pointing that out Sharktooth! I assumed the poster was using the default 2-pass setting in MeGUI when I saw his posting, I should have looked more carefully.
