When playing ripped VOB video files from a DVD (ripped with DVD Shrink, no recompression, no extra features (just the main movie, 5.1 AC3 audio, and one subtitle set which is disabled)), MPC and MPC-HC (latest versions of each) stutter during playback.
I have a Q6600, 2GB of RAM, an SATA NCQ 500GB hard drive, and an nVidia GeForce 9600 GT with the latest drivers, so I doubt I'm underpowered. I don't have PureVideo installed.
If I use MPC(-HC)'s internal filters, it plays fine. VLC also plays fine. I have ffdshow and Haali's Media Splitter installed. ffdshow is set to decode MPEG-2 video, and Haali is set to split it.
The filters being used in MPC are, in order:
Default DirectSound Device
Video Mixing Render 9 (Windowed)
ffdshow Audio decoder
ffdshow Video decoder
<PATHOFTHEVOB> (this appears to be the Haali Splitter)
I have tried every video renderer, I think... all stutter, all report ~24fps. Some tell me there are frames being dropped, some say none. This is 29.97fps NTSC, so I'm thinking something, somewhere, is doing a very poor IVTC...?
It could be the nVidia... the settings say to use application settings and not use IVTC. But hey, it shouldn't even be being used IMO.
Using an AviSynth script with just basic DirectShow input of the video plays fine in everything. Also, the video renderer when using an AVS tells me it is doing ~29.97fps, with only 0-1ms of "jitter" (before, it was ~29ms). Although, the video is 720x480, and needs to be corrected (that's OK). Perhaps it's indicative that before, it opened in correct aspect ratio?
:thanks:
