Cleaning mjpeg noise

I ripped some footage from a game that was originally compressed with a type of mjpeg compression. It has some quite bad mosquito noise, and I also need to upsize it to 640x480.

Does anyone know what might be some good filters to fix this?

It's not actually a regular mjpeg, but a modified type of mjpeg called thp (http://www.amnoid.de/gc/thp.txt).
I've already deleted the source thp files after converting to lagarith, but I suppose I could rip them again if you think it would be helpful.

okay. I see. So I guess I cannot load a .THP file directly into any video-app?

Trya temporal DFTtest, perhaps?

E.g. dfttest(sigma=1,tbsize=5).

DTFtest seems to be doing a pretty good job on it. Following it up with TemporalDegrain helps even more, even gets rid of the crawling appearance on the edges.

scharfis_brain: mencoder can handle it, but thats pretty much it.

you also could try motion compensation on it to stabilize it even more.

LRemoveDust and PixieDust have sometimes worked very very well against mosquito noise for me, even against filters that seem more advanced (dfttest, fft3dfilter, etc.). And good old UnDot proves itself against any left-overs, especially around anime/cartoon edges.
