Using the latest stable VDub 1.7.8 and DivX 6.8 on WinXP Pro.

Having a little trouble with VDub loading DIV3 AVIs with a Panasonic/I-O Data DV GigaAVI codec rather than DivX. I have been having a lot of error code 2 issues and noticed what was being used to load the files. After searching the registry, the only reference for DIV3 was related to ffdShow. Can anything be done to change the codec default for DIV3 back to Divx (short of reinstalling it) from the Panasonic? I have checked with Radlight and VCSwap to see what I have and Divx is in place in the system normally. So I guess the trouble is just the DIV3 reference as DIVX is loading properly.

Thx !

Fishman

PS: Also I noticed that the registry entry formats I'm seeing in some forum messages, I am not seeing in my own registry.
i.e. "vidc.xxxx" but that may not matter...

You can find all the registered VFW/ACM codecs in the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Drivers32

The DivX codec does not handle DIV3. For DIV3 you need either ffdshow or the old DivX 3.11 codec.

Ok found it. I don't know why regedit wouldn't find it earlier!! Go figure.. Dang why do these things have to be such a pain?

Added a new value & data to the list and it WORKED LIKE A CHARM!! Yup, and with the Divx.dll too, as ffdshow didn't load (but it is installed).

Muchos Gracias, Man !!!

:D

Update: During playback, DirectVobSub runs with Divx6.8 as far as I can tell Divx is handling the DIV3 in VDub and MPC. Joined the 2 parts with no error code 2 "source image format..." trouble. Possibly the new divx.dll can handle DIV3? Just added "vidc.div3"...."divx.dll" to the key and checked it in Vdub and MPC.
