"direct stream copy" not working when loading a MJPEG AVI via avisynth

If I open in virtualdub an avisynth file in which I load some MGPEG compressed AVI, virtualdub cannot recognize the fourcc and, if I select video direct stream copy and save the file, it outputs uncompressed avi (occupying 10x the space on HD) instead of the original mjpeg compressed avi.
If I load the mjpeg avi directly in virtualdub, it recognize correctly the fourcc "PICvideo Mjpeg 3".
I tried to load the avi files in avisynth with AviSource and DirectShohSource with no luck.
Can I solve this situation?




programs versions

virtualdub 1.7.8 and 1.8.0
avsynth 2.5.7 and 2.5.8 alpha2
PICvideo MJPEG codec 3.0.0.11

if you load an avisynth script into virtualdub the data is allready decompressed by avisynth and vdub will see that as uncompressed video.
