View Full Version : Blu Ray problems

I just purchased a Lite-On Blu Ray reader for my desktop computer and can't seem to get anything working right! Installing the drive was easy and sucessful. I installed the PowerDVD 7 software that came with the drive, but cannot get the discs to play!
When I try and play it plays for about 4 seconds then I get an error regarding HDCP. If anyone knows anything about this issue, please share. I am running a NVIDIA 7600GT graphics card with a Dell 2405FPW monitor. I read a bit online and heard that it might have something to do with the monitor, but I'm not sure and really hope there is a solution to fix it.
I purchased this drive with the intention of backing up some of my Blu Ray titles in Divx/XVID format. DVDFab Decrypter won't seem to recognize any of the discs that I put in (300, Curse of the Golden Flower, 30 Days of Night, and Letters from Iwo Jima are the ones I have tried so far). I've been using this program for my DVD back ups for ages now with no problems and would really like to keep using it for my new Blu Ray discs.
I've now used AnyDVD to decrypt the entire disc on to my hard drive, which seems to work ok, but now I am in uncharted territory. The structure of a Blu Ray disc is nothing like the structure of a DVD. How do I use AutoGK to create a Divx back up of these files? Or will AutoGK not do the trick? Do I need to decrypt it in a different way? Or use other programs?

As a general note, none of your DVD tools will be of any use with your Blu-ray drive.

Is there any tools or guides out there for converting blu ray to divx, xvid, or x264?

Hove you tried playing the disc after anydvd HD has decrypted it or at least scanned it. The HDCP error is because your GFX card and possible your monitor are not HDCP compliant. AnyDVD HD should take care of that part.
As for having an easy solution to backing up your discs you should check out the Video Encoding section http://forum.doom9.org/forumdisplay.php?f=17. This forum is for Authoring HD DVDs / Blu-ray and AVCHD type discs.

Possibly try MeGUI or RipBot264. Never done it myself but I seem to remember seeing people using those.

There has got to be a way to do this...
I've tried using MeGUI but only get as far as the stage where you select the file. Every time I select the file, the program errors and closes. I've installed every filter I can find to make it compatible. I've also tried converting it to D2V with DGIindex but when I try to open the file in DGI it says that it cannot locate the header file and won't let me do the conversion. RipBot seems ok, but I can't figure out how to select a different audio track.
I'd really like to use AutoGK and I heard that if you used TSREMUX to convert to files into TS, then you could open them in AutoGK. However, it doesn't look like the newer versions of AutoGk are able to do that anymore and I can't get the older versions to work. It's been a long day of experimenting with no success... Any ideas?

You need to use GraphEdit to source the file, and then open an Avisynth script that sources from GraphEdit with the encoder of your choice.

I've followed the instructions given for converting a blu ray file here:
http://forum.videohelp.com/topic333634.html
However, I only get to the part where I select the video file. I've downloaded every codec mentioned in the tutorial to be able to select the file directly with no success.
I have also tried to convert it to D2V as instructed in the tutorial with no success either. Can anyone maybe tell me where I am going wrong?

If you are running Vista then you are probably out of luck in getting programs like MeGui/etc to work and the only way is doing it manually yourself using x264 or other command-line interfaces in which case you have to know a lot about different flags, how they work and what they do to the video.
I am running Vista myself and haven't been able to get MeGUI or other similar programs like TSRemux or TSMuxer, etc to work at all. They do the same thing you are describing and just crash when trying to load a file. I had to resort to command-line.

Like Dark Shikari said you will never be able to "convert it to D2V" because that process is for DVD's.
Get a program called graphedit and "render" the file you want to encode with it. Then remove the last item from the filter chain. Save it with whatever name you want and load the file it creates in the MeGUI avisynth script creator. That guide will not work for what you are trying to do. If you keep trying to do it that way you are only going to find more frustration.

Like Dark Shikari said you will never be able to "convert it to D2V" because that process is for DVD's. You're both wrong. DGIndex can open M2TS files that have MPEG2 video. DGAVCIndex can open M2TS files that have AVC video.
More generally, "that process" is NOT just for DVDs.
