DVD Shrink & Nero Problem

For some unknow reason, DVD Shrink is decrypting minute for minute (for every minute long the disc is, it takes as long to decrypt it) & Nero is burning minute for minute... I've uninstalled both programs, & ran Nero's general clean tool, same problem... any advice? (All the movies are regular, no HD, or Blu Ray)

Make sure your IDE Controller for your DVD drives are set to DMA if available and not PIO Only.

Hi!

Yes, as suggested by "DrinkLyeAndDie", it certainly sounds like your drive has reverted to PIO mode. If so:

In the Device Manager (via the Control Panel>>System>>Hardware>>Device Manager), you simply have to remove the applicable IDE channel (Click on "IDE...Controllers") and let your computer reset it to DMA as follows:
Right click on the pertinent channel in Device Manager
Click on uninstall
Reboot
After rebooting go back to Device Manager and change the setting to "DMA if available"...

I have : IDE/ATA ATPI COntorlers... 2 primary IDE channels... 2 secondary IDE channels... 2 standard dual channel PCI IDE controller...both primary, and secondary are set to DMA if available

which of the IDE channels do i uninstall @setarip_old?

The one where your DVD drive is on. This is usually the secondary one. See here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=44808).

Even easier is to use the reset DMA function of DVD Fab HD Decrypter.

i did all the uninstalling, and let windows do its thing, confirmed that it was set to DMA, and still as slow as before... this happened to me once, and i ran the nero general clean tool, and was good to go, this time, just as the last, it did it out of nowhere, and seems like its hopeless

Preferences | General.

There's a Reset DMA button at the bottom.

Go to Preferences and then the General settings in DVDFab.

My apologies for the numerous thread entries.... to answer your question, Les, yes, it was happening on every dvd, i checked all my settings, and got so mad, that i decided to just unplug the dvd-rom, and it actually worked... i dont know why, must be something going on that isnt visible, and i know it wasnt a wise idea to unplug, while still having power running, but it worked, i was able to complete a quite large task.... i do appreciate everyones input for trying to help me with this issue!

Does it happen on every DVD? Have you checked your DMA settings in your BIOS?

And please learn to use the edit button to add stuff to your postings. There's no need to add a new post to add some info a few minutes later.
