So like the title says I am looking for basically the easiest way to turn HD-DVDs and Blu-Rays into 720p H.264 files that I can play using the appletv. I'm not worried about losing some quality and I am not worried about the audio as much. Any ideas? I've wadded through many different guides and all of them are daunting. I am a mac user but also have windows installed so I would be happy getting the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray into a file type that would be accepted in http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/ (Visual Hub) so I can use that since it makes appletv files easily. Thanks all

use tsmuxer to create ts file , e.g. from AVCHD - you can open that ts file in visualhub (i tried test version 1.33 only) - it plays with Dolby Digital in appleTV

Did you try searching the site? There are honestly like 25 threads, several guides, and tons of discussion on doing exactly what your asking.
Search first, then ask questions if you can't find the answer.

Quadcore - honestly I have done that reserach - so far I have not found one guide which explains how to convert a blu ray backup to AppleTV with dolby Digital at 720p using 1280 x 720 and using anamorphic coding.
So far my conclusion based on try and error however is that visualhub does all i want except for anamorphic, i.e. if i crop top and bottom then picture is distorted. other than that - perfect
so my guide is: drag and drop into visualhub, change seetings manually to 1280 x 720 and then click convert.

Finding a Guide that does exactly what you want can be difficult.... as first someone has to have had the need to do "exactly" what you want, and then created the guide.
Sometimes you just need to be the pioneer do the research, the trail and error, then post your findings!
