Hi!
Does anyone know of any embeeded hardware video encoder (any codec)? I mean, an integrated circuit able to encode real-time video frames from a digital source.
Resolutions from 320x240 - 640x480 25 fps progressive.

I was thinking on a sipler solution, using as less hardware and software as possible, some hardware fed with raw frames form source which writes compressed data to the storage, or even simpler, raw compressed stream to another board managing the storage.
something like this:

but with better performance

My Hauppauge PVR uses a Conexant encoder for MPEG2. http://www.conexant.com/. Hauppauge cards are under $100 these days.
