Has anyone with a PS3 actually set the unit up to be a massive video converter?

This article seems to make this process a very simple concept.
Just wondering if anyone has had a chance to do this and wanted to know the outcome.
I am very intrigued by this and I think I will be picking up the MGS4 bndle when it's available.

I try very hard to look before posting. I must have tried about 100 different searches looking to use the PS3 as an encoding machine.
Never did I think to search for "PS3 dvd ripping"
First search, blamo, PS3 encoding. Heh - who would have thunk it!
Anyway- thanks for the link!

Searching with Google is usually better and faster. Just append " site:forum.doom9.org" to your search term(s).

I agree.
However, I'm interested in finding out if any member here has attempted this and what was the out come(i.e. was it worth it? Can you really encode in near real time? Was the conversion quality on par with their system - meaning was it able to actually convert and not snarf the conversion output)
