I have 12 files I need to join into one. When I try and open the first one in virtualdub I get the following error:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42'
Virtualdub requires Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video.
What do I do now?

Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42'
Install Xvid (http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download.php?sid=1052&ssid=0&did=1); problem solved.

@Superturtle
Hi!How do I join these files?
I have 12 files I need to join into one. When I try and open the first one in virtualdub I get the following error:
Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'MP42'
Virtualdub requires Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video.
What do I do now?1) What software and procedures did you use to create the 12 separate files that you "need to join into one"?
2) Why the heck did you create 12 separate files in the first place?
3) How could you not have, on your system, the codec that you used to create the 12 separate files?
4) Load the first file into GSpot and post a screen capture back here

I should have been more specific. These files were downloaded.

I should have been more specific. These files were downloaded.You might want to RE-read the "Announcement" at the top of the "Newbies" sub-forum, as well as all of the Forum Rules (particularly #6) - especially since any member providing assistance here might also be "struck"...

If your merging MP4's, you can try using yamb, virtualdub doesn't support MP4. Also more information on your situation would be nice.
