.MKV to playable DVD issues

I converted some ripped DVD's to .MKV's and would like to burn them onto a dvd I can put in my dvd player thats hooked up to my tv. The reason is because eventually I'm getting a media streamer that can play .MKV and I want to test some files out to see how they look.

So far I have tried importing the files into Nero to compile a DVD and have no success. Is there another dvd burning software I can use?

Just copy your original DVD. It makes no sense to go through an MKV stage.

Hi!

If you're saying that you want to burn the .MKV files to a DVD AS MKV FILES (NOT as compliant DVD "packages" of .VOBs, .IFOs, and .BUPs) and then play that DVD on a standalone DVD player, I'm afraid you're out of luck for, as far as I know, there are no standalone players that are capable of playing .MKV files...

Actually it does make sense. Like stated in my first post for testing purposes I would like to burn them to a dvd that can play in any dvd. I tried importing the file into Nero to make a dvd and it just crashes.

It's apparent that you don't understand the terminology:

If you burn the files AS A COMPLIANT DVD, their format(s) will have been changed and they will no longer be .MKV files...

This HD video is from my PVR and it's in a Matroska container. I just want to be able to put it on DVD.
