Now that the formula one season is upon us again i would like to record the full season for myself.
Ideally I would like to hook my laptop up to my Thomson sky receiver and record that way
Now.
I am wondering if it is just a simple matter of using something like >>> THIS (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=160212258689&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=006) <<<

That'll work, if you have the following:

1) A lotta hard disk space
2) A Sky box with the relevant outputs
3) A fast enough laptop to counter 1) with good compression.

My solution this season is to get the barebones HDD recorder Maplin have got and stick a 250 GB HDD in it, so's I can transfer the races later on to the computer.

Hmm,
I am not sure if that would work for me.

I have to use sat. dish here in Southern Ireland

Thanks for the time to reply. :thanks:

If you can find a Sat receiver with a HDD that receives your F1 broadcasts (I can't think what channel they'd use in ROI, but a quick search tells me it's not ITV :D, it's Setanta 2) (Maplin may have some available, if you look hard enough), then yes, it *should* be possible. But at this stage it's only theory. ;)

Ebay has loads of them that receive ITV,
That is where i bought my current receiver ;)

When you say *should* be possible.
Is this yes or no ?

This is yes, as I've read it. But I have 0 exp points in actually getting it working myself, lacking both a Sat receiver and a dish. :D
