Hello,

I'm having a strange issue on Vista, and I do not know the cause of it: I am unable to delete MP4 files.

First, my MP4 file is in a normal state.
Then, after trying to permanently delete it (using Shift+Delete), the file is still there, but with no access possibility at all (I cannot read it, move it, rename it or delete it anymore).
Using right click, Properties, Security, Advanced, Owner, I get:
« Impossible d’afficher le propriétaire actuel. » (Impossible to display the current owner)
Trying to Modify the rights for the file, I get:
« Impossible de définir le nouveau propriétaire » (Impossible to set new owner)

This issue only happens with .MP4 files, no matter I download them or I encode them; that's why I'm posting for help on Doom9.

Is the file still there after a reboot? It could be that something has the file still open (Vista's thumbnailer or something) so of course you can't delete the file...

Try grabbing Process Explorer here (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx), then run it, hit Ctrl-F and let it search for "MP4", or perhaps the file's full name - if some process still has the file opened, it'll be listed in the search results.

Oups, I accidently replied in French... *translating*

Thanks Leak.
Apparently, all my MP4 are opened by a single process :

File C:\Program Files\Common Files\Roxio Shared\9.0\SharedCOM\RoxMediaDB9.exe

I found out that it comes from a software bundled with my computer : Creator 9.
I'm currently desinstalling it...

Sorry, small accident. I've translated my previous message now.

And the good news is that the problem is fixed. I don't know what was this “Creator 9” for, but it was causing unnecessary problems.

Hi!I don't know what was this “Creator 9”It's Roxio's burning/authoring suite (similar in concept to NERO)...
