What is the speciality of this codec? Any advantages if installed in the system? Why this codec is never used anywhere!

What is the speciality of this codec?
It's an MPEG-4 SP/ASP codec, much like DiVX and Xvid. Anything encoded in 3ivx can be decoded with DiVX or Xvid and (more or less) vice versa.
Any advantages if installed in the system?
Not really. Anything 3ivx can do DiVX and Xvid can do just as well, if not much, much better.
Why this codec is never used anywhere!
It was used more in the Macintosh community than the PC world, but had been stuck at version 4.5 for nearly 3 years with no updates - to say nothing of no QuickTime 7 or Intel Mac support - and very little feedback from the 3ivx team when an updated version would be released. Most switched over to H.264 in the meantime, and the rest is history.

Hmm, you can test it and let us know the results. That's how it's working here. :)
