Hi!the vob file i get is only 59minsSounds like you are trying to rip it to a single file.

If this is so, and your hard drive is formatted as FAT32 (NOT NTFS), you may be running into the FAT32 individual filesize limit of 4Gb...

two things first i have no idea what that means. and yes im trying to rip a single vob file no file splittings. it ripped it as 5.29GB and when i playback the film it has the whole film, but the problem is when i try to convert it, it only does the fisrt 59 mins. and secondly can you please step by step explain how to fix this problem.

What you are saying, in sum, is that you've gotten a GOOD and COMPLETE rip to your hard drive ("ripped it as 5.29GB and when i playback the film it has the whole film") but, as the result of some unstated type of conversion you've performed, the converted file contains only (the first) 59 minutes of the movie.

What software and procedures did you use to convert the video?

i used dvd decrypter. i went into ifo mode. selected no file splitting. only selected the English audio stream with video and then ripped it to a single vob file on my hard drive. when i open the video it says video is only 59mins when in reality it is 2 hrs and 5 mins, but when i try to convert it only does 59mins because my converter thinks it only has 59 mins.

My question was (and still is):

What software (That indicates only 59 minutes) and procedures did you use to convert the already ripped video (To .AVI or similar)?

VLC Media Player, Windows Media Player, and Divx Player all indicate that film is 59 mins. both Total Video Converter and Divx Converter only convert first 59 mins.

Similar thing once happened to me when I tried to rip in IFO mode and convert video using Nero Recode. I guess it has something to do with indexing inside the .VOB or .IFO file.

There are two ways to solve the problem:
1) Rip in file mode, or
2) If you want to use IFO mode, use DGIndex + Avisynth script approach to serve the video to the converter of your choice.

You could also try ripping it with DVDFab Decrypter and select FULL Disc. Then you can strip it down later with DVD shrink in the reauthor tab.

It sounds like your converter program is just reading the time stamps of the video. Take a look inside the IFO file and I'll bet you'll find a layer break or vobid change right around 59 minutes or so. The second layer/vobid probably has its timecode reset to zero. To check this, you can preview your ripped vob in DGIndex (http://neuron2.net/dgmpgdec/dgmpgdec.html) and see if the time counter jumps to zero halfway thru the movie. To fix it, you can re-rip the same as before but instead of 'Direct Stream Copy' choose 'Demux' to elementary streams. Load the demuxed video into DGPulldown (http://neuron2.net/dgpulldown/dgpulldown.html) and re-write timecodes with 'No change' and 'Set timecodes' selected. If your converter program will not accept separate audio and video, then you'll have to multiplex them back before importing.

Good Luck
