I have been looking and searching for a good program wihch can make good looking DVD menus...the best I have found is Ulead DVD Workshop 2 but I got a problem with voices there... I can't hear anything...ex. I add a vidio but can't here what people are saying in it.
I have also being trying to make the menus with roxio MYDVD...it works almost perfect but when I input 4 movies 350MB each...the program shows that a 4,7GB DVD is already full... isn't it kind of weird... in Ulead DVD Workshop it was able to add more thenjust 3/4 movies...I remember I could add 13 of them...

please help me!

@michcio

Hi!I remember I could add 13 of them...1) What is the format of these video files?

2) What is the average running time of each of them?

3) What is the final format of the DVD "package" you created with Ulead DVD Workshop?

1) What is the format of these video files?

the format is .avi on all of them

2) What is the average running time of each of them?

the running time is about 44 minutes...

3) What is the final format of the DVD "package" you created with Ulead DVD Workshop?

what do you mean with the package format...I don't need to save package... I can directly burn the one I create to DVD...

You'll need to convert to DVD format first (IFO/VOB/BUP). SUPER or DVDFlick are good at this.

@michcio

Please clarify:

Do you want to simply copy the .AVIs that you created to DVD media, or

Do you want to convert the .AVIs that you created to compliant DVD format (.IFOs, .BUPs, and .VOBs) - and then burn to DVD media?

the running time is about 44 minutes...Are these TV episodes?

Are these TV episodes?

yes they are... I don't want to copy them I want to convert? or burn them on a DVD with a menu

I really don't follow what you're trying to do.

Your original, commercial DVDs of these TV shows (apparently "1 hour" episodes) already contain 3 to 4 episodes on each disc, plus menus.

Why don't you simply make backup copies of your original, commercial DVDs?

already contain 3 to 4 episodes on each disc, plus menus.

yeah 3 to 4 episodes... can't I just make only one DVD with about 12 episodes on a 4,7 GB DVD instead of 3-4 DVDs?

You can, but at much diminished quality. In any case, if you do that, it's better to encode from your original DVD, and not from the AVIs. I believe DVD Shrink can help you to do that.

@michciocan't I just make only one DVD with about 12 episodes on a 4,7 GB DVD instead of 3-4 DVDs?Although it may be technically possible (As suggested by "neuron2"), compressing 12 44 minute episodes, in compliant DVD format, on a DVD-5 will result in virtually unviewable garbage.

I strongly suggest you simply make direct backup copies of your original DVDs - You'll not only have far better quality video, but original menus as well - Well worth the 30 cents each for the blank media...

@michio - do you have the DVDs or did you obtain these AVIs elsewhere?

Then you need to take the advice in this thread.

4 eps (in MPEG2 format) per DVD is about as much as you want (3 is better).

More to the point, your original DVDs have menus on them. Why make new ones?

And the DVDs did not come as AVIs. You must have converted them, right?

yeah I think so but it was a long time ago I got them to my comp At this point, since you are raising rule 6 suspicions and being coy about answering them properly, and because nobody in their right mind would try to do what you are trying to do, it's time to close the thread. PM me with a full explanation of the origin of the AVIs and if legitimate I'll re-open the thread.
