720p x264 encode - framerate?

When you guys do an x264 HD encode of a 60 fps 720p stream, are you typically leaving the framerate alone or do you invoke some inverse telecine plugin in your .avs?

Regular scripted televison shows? TDecimate(CycleR=3) ... works on 90% of the shows, some have some weird cadences and require a lot of hair pulling and the results are not always the greatest. Have you got a particular show in mind? ABC shows(LOST in particular) are notorious for playing around with dropping intermittent frames here and there.

Does that work better than TDecimate(CycleR=3)?

I know TDecimate(CycleR=3) is very fast and uses hardly any CPU. Does the method you described help compensate(smooth out the playback) for the strange cadences inherent in a lot of the ABC shows?
