I've just about had it with this container, seeing how limited compatible software is. I have a MKV file with an x264 video stream and an AAC audio stream. When I try to use MKV Extract GUI, I hit Extract and some command prompt pops up and then disappears almost instanteously, then tells me it's done. It's done nothing, however.
What's the best way to extract these streams and put them into an Xbox 360-compatible MP4 container instead?

I would like to know as well... I hate MKVs... I want to play my HD movies through my xbox or PS3 and encoding takes forever, if it doesnt crash... there is a program that someone wrote recently that takes MKVs and maybe other video files and puts them into another container without encoding... I cant seem to find it, but maybe somebody else knows...

I believe I may have found a solution. Using a different version of MKV Extract GUI (1.6.3), I'm able to extract the video and audio streams easily. I downloaded it from here (http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/157/59/). Change the extension from .h264 to just .264, then use MeGUI's built-in MP4 muxer to mux the .264 and .aac into a .mp4.
