When playing back DivX videos in ANY program (DivX Playa, WMP, ATI File Player, etc.) at completely random and different points in the file, audio will quit and be replaced with a high-pitched whine. Shortly thereafter, my whole system locks up and I am forced to reboot. I am not overloading my system, because this has happened when the DivX was the only application running on my computer. Some please help....oh, yeah, i am running Windows 2000, SB Live Platinum 5.1, and ATI Radeon All-in-Wonder. Thanx!--stoney

This is usually an IRQ sharing conflict.

It's maddening as hell, Win2k and XP can use up 255 virtual IRQs PER actual IRQ. And you cannot change ALL of them via the BIOS as it mostly ignores the settings. If your lucky you can force it to assign 1 or 2 to avoid sharing.

Creative Labs and nearly every other manufacturer of PCI/AGP cards out there claims IRQ sharing is ok, lol. If they would at least make it so the OS didn't share IRQs untill they were all used up it would help, wtf are they thinking?

On most motherboards, the AGP slot shares the same IRQ as slot 1. And if your SB card is in slot 1, that would be the first thing to change. Consult your MB manual first though, you never know.

Kinda funny, I was over at a friends last night and he just put in an AGP card and has this exact same problem now, and his sound card is in slot 1.

good luck
