Hopefully this is the right forum section for stuff regarding Recode.

Anyway, the issue I'm encountering seems to happen only intermittently: When encoding a DVD to Nero Digital AVC, for some reason the bitrate drops way down for the last scene or two in the movie.

Settings are: 2 pass, 1.24 Mbps bitrate, fit to size disabled, audio copy from source AC3.

The bitrate and quality seem about right for most of the movie, but then looks like garbage as the bitrate drops down to something like 300kbps average. I am not trying to hit any specific filesize so this is not wanted.

Any ideas or is this a bug?

Well obviously if you are specifying a bitrate, you're specifying a target filesize, too.

But that shouldn't be happening; it sounds like a bug in Nero's 2pass ratecontrol.

Do the Nero devs still read/post in these forums? I'd like to bring this (possible) bug to their attention...

Just noticed some others are having the same issue as noted in the Nero Recode thread...called 'declining bitrate issue'...hopefully this is fixed next release.
