Does anyone know where you can find a good (i.e. complete and suitable for non-experts) guide that lays out the basics of the Windows architecture as far as multimedia is concerned?

It should explain what things like DirectShow Filters are, VMR, EVR, all that stuff and especially how it's all linked together.

It should NOT explain about video itself (framerates, resolution, colorspace, interlacing, the differences of various codecs...), just how the whole system is modelled in Windows.

Thanks!
