PAL <-> NTSC Film FPS conversion with MEncoder

Hi,

As the topic title says it, I'd like to know if it's possible to do this with mencoder. Say I have a progressive NTSC movie @ 23.976 fps and I want to convert it to 25 fps. Is there any (decent) way to do that with MEncoder?

With mencoder? maybe, I'm no expert.

If it was up to me, I would just leave it at 23.976 and use dgpulldown to pull it down to 25fps. That way you don't have to muck with the audio.

I'm guessing that by PAL you're referring to 576i50?

no, to 576p25. I guess I can speed it up and use the -af scaletempo audio filter to preserve the pitch of the sound

Hmm.. good call. I guess it's not possible to just use pulldown on a progressive source to a progressive result.

Not sure though..
