TMPGEnc Clip Properties are Wrong

When I Open an AVI file that is normally XVID, The Clip properties almost always tells me that my AVI is:

(1) Progressive

(2) 30 FPS

However, when I test with VirtualDub and check File Information, it will show the real frame rate. The same is true when I use ConvertXtoDVD and check Source properties. Then I plug the real frame rate into TMPGEnc's clip properties.

What I am saying is that TMPGEnc does not accurately show the frame rate in most cases when I use it. For a program that is so sophisticated, why is it dumb in reporting clip properties?

Yes TMPGEnc XPress does do this which initially seems strange. Although, because it allows you to change the information (FPS e.t.c) I look at it as TMPGEnc asking me that information rather than telling me.....

Its hard to believe they can't at least duplicate the software in VirtualDub, ConvertXtoDVD, GSPOT, et al. They all seem to have it right.

How about PROGRESSIVE. Does that also have to be determined by another program like Frame Rate?

Yes. It seems that TMPGEnc does absolutely nothing in determining what the source's properties (frame rate, interlaced/progressive, aspect ratio, etc.) are.

Do you have problems with the audio too? I have problems with tmpgenc reading AC3 6channel audio. It says my auido is only 2 channel.. I'm stumped.
