Hi folks,

my first post, so HELLO EVERYBODY:cool:

Ive got a question about AZID.

I want to ripp soundtracks from DVDs without the speech and the SFX.

To do that, first I red some infos about ripping music.
The info said, that i can ripp music without voice by using AZID.
So i downloaded Bsweet, which contains the AZID.dll...

Furthermore the info said, that i ve to put the center level to -70db in the "downmix level"-section and in the "input channel configuration", because mostly the voicec and effects of movies are on that center channel.

So first i ripped some AC3 files from a movie, in this case from "fallen", and than I started bsweet to convert it into a wav-file.

I put the center on -70db in the downmix level. But I cannot get into the input configuration...that option is simply unavailable.

So now my questions:

1. Is the way I try to ripp right?

2. Why I cant get into the input configuration?

I tried many ways by editing many options in Bsweet, downloading the Azid.exe etc., but nothing helped.

:Im using DVD audio ripper for the AC3-file extraction...when I ve got a DVD in 5.1 Sound, like fallen, the DVD Audio Ripper shows only 2 channels (stereo) in the info-box, for AC3 files, that are in 5.1. Might that be the problem??? that i ripp only in stereo with that program?

Can someone can help me here plzzzz???

THX for reading

PS: Sry for my bad english^^

Let me see if I understand your requirement - you want to get the music from the AC3 file on your DVD, without the voice and the sound effects? By SFX, you mean explosions etc.? And by music, you mean songs or background music?

In any case, I think the approach should be rip the AC3 to disk (using DVD Decrypter), split the 5.1 AC3 to 6 mono WAV files (using BeSweet), and then inspect the individual WAV files. The center one is usually the voice/dialog, which you don't want, so one of the others should be the track you are looking for.

Not sure why you are downmixing here. Are you trying to convert to 2Ch or something?

Try:
azid.exe -d3/2 -ol,r input.ac3 output.wav
If I've got this right, this should give you a stereo wav file containing only the main left and right channels.

True, but won't extract only the musical sountrack, which I think is what Soundlover wants to do. Not sure if thats really possible without losing a lot of quality on the music side as well. My recommendation would be to downmix entire track to 2 channel, then use an equalizer to reduce the parts you don't want. Not very precise though.

Thank you very much, your idea of splitting the ac3 into 6 mono wavs brought me to the fix of the problem. like i thought it was that dvd ripper, which only ripps in stereo....lol. Now with dvd decrypter its allright. Thanks again folks...
