Why Does RipIt4Me Say "No Disk In Drive"

Sometimes when I'm trying to back up a DVD that is scratched up, RipIt4Me says "No Disk In Drive."

I then go through my scratch removal routine and sometimes that fixes the problem but not always.

My question is, is there a particular part of the DVD disk that RipIt4Me is not able to read that makes it think there is no disk in the drive. If I know where that is, maybe I can pay particular attention to polishing that part.

I can not answer about RipIt4Me precisely, but all such programs need to be able to read the Table of Contents and the filesystem. These are contained near the hub of the disk.

I have had that same problem. My newer HP dvd drive will not read some dual layered dvd's but my old Cyberhome dvd will. Since I have 2 drives installed I just try the other one. Kinda strange that the 6 month old HP dvd with the burn the label on the disk technology gives it up to the old drive.:(
