divx encoding tutorial

Hi i have a question about divx encoding dose anyone have a good tutorial on how to use virtual dub such as dvd to avi and such I use to have one but i can't remember which one i used it was a long time ago=[. But i do want to get back into encoding etc.. Just need one that has what tools i need etc thanks :) maybe even encode byond divx :) thanks
