Hi,
Is it possible to split a movie by file size?

if you go back a few pages (I know search isn't turned on.. if it were you couldn't read this as the board server would crumble under the lead.. we're getting into critical regions even without the search) you see that this topic has been discussed. As long as there's no command line tool that will return the split frame for a certain size it can't be done as the control-shift-j option in nandub can't be used from outside the program

Basically, which program is used once you have the finished 1400 MB file?
Thanks,

1.)start Nandub manually
2.)follow this tutorial on doom9's page:

NanDub's file size splitting is weird: When I use the default setting of 699MB, I often get files above 700MB, which Nero refuses to burn. Even with 698MB - Doom9's recommendation - I had some file that came out too large...

My experience is (with 80% of my 2cd rips) to adjust nandub to go to the 697MB point, to get a perfect 700MB split at a keyframe.
If not, just keep adjusting.

The easiest way I know to do this is to use 'save segmented avi' in Nandub with a value of, say, 701 mb. This should give you 2 700 MB parts. Nandub always makes the segents 1 MB less than the value you specify in 'save segmented avi.' :D
But since this method doesn't split by keyframes you will have to repeat the process to get a perfect final product.
Right-click -> properties -> summary on 'movie 1' will tell you the number of frames. Now armed with this information, load the original 1400mb movie into nandub. Ctrl-g (goto frame) and enter the number you just determined. Now go back 1 keyframe and you have the perfect place to cut your avi.
Then follow doom9's guide for file splitting.

It used to take me 4-5 tries before with certain movies to get a perfect split...using this method you only have 2 do it twice. ;)
