I have a request for enhancement.

In the menu editor it would be nice to be able to undo changes. For example when using 'hide button->jump to non-deleted button'. I'm sure adding something to undo is not so easy but perhaps some of the menu edits might be undoable (within the menu editor window for each menu). If so I love to see them.

If you have stuffed up an edit, just cancel and the menu will be returned to its condition before the edit. If you have already hit OK, just do not save the DVD. Reload it and you can start again.

Yes I could start over by reloading the DVD.

Problem is that in a single editing session I take out multiple titles (extras, previews) and try to bypass their buttons before I get around to tracing through the resulting (mega edited) dvd to see that each button used really has video in the title it plays. This is repeated for all buttons when I sometimes find a button got taken out by mistake or still needs to be bypassed. On some movies this entails a lot of edits and time. That's why I thought maybe an undo might benefit others like me.

I'll use the 'emergency kill' exit and overwrite from the backup directory into the video_ts dir to undo my mistakes. If an undo pops up in a future release that would be a cherry on top.

Well, that's not easy to implement. Anyway, I have no way to save the undo information in the DVD itself, so, if you save and reload it, the undo will be definitely lost. Unfortunately, the DVD is saved and reloaded automatically during some operations (such as Delete Uncalled PGCs.) Therefore, imo, implementing a limited undo that will not work after some edits is not a good idea.

In addition to the undo methods explained by blutach, you can also reload the button informations from the backup folder, without loosing the other edits. Use File -> Menu Buttons and BOVs -> Import all menu buttons and BOVs, and select the menubuttons.but file that s in you most recent backup folder. However, I can't recommend this method, as the content of that file might not be synchronized with your current DVD. So, if you use it, be sure to backup all menu VOBs before!

I thought this could be frought with ill begotten side effects. That's why I used rfe (request for enhancment) in the subject. Sounds like this is best refused due to degree of difficulty with bad2poor return on result. Plus there's the whole do it carefully or abort and go back to original files and use the 2nd change to be even more careful.

Maybe a good idea to save things as you go along after you are happy with the edits (a bit like saving a Word document)? Then if you come across something that is no good, you can reload.

Taking r0lZ's suggestion, even if the button info in the backup folder is not synchronised, you can perhaps look at the info for the now "bad button" and manually redo it (the sizing, command and if necessary, the colour scheme selected). Simply load up in another PgcEdit window the backup folder - it will load the button info.

I must remember that.

One of those sorts of things that I probably wouldn't have thought of but seems blindingly obvious once you've had it explained. :D
