Difference between "inter/intra deadzone quantizer"

Hey guys,

can anyone explain to me the difference between the inter and the intra deadzone quantizer is? I know what the deadzone quantizer option in general does, but not the difference between these two types.

Intra is used for intra macroblocks, inter is used for inter macroblocks. From a bit of testing I have found that this distinction is probably unnecessary and x264 might be better off using the same lambda and deadzone for both block types.

hmm i think the best to test the Intra/Inter deadzone efficiency you can get with testing "paris" it really shows where the problems are in x264 under low bitrate conditions and to low deadzones changeing the balance to much results in heavy block flicking (picture stability issues).
