Problems with new Blu-ray Drive

Hi all, I just got the new Sony BDU-X10S and I'm having trouble using it to begin with.

I installed the drive, ran the installation to install Sony BDIcon and CyberLink PowerDVD, but I can't seem to use the drive with Blu-ray discs at all. Opening up the drive (with a BD-DVD in it) through explorer tells me "Windows cannot read from disk. The disk may be corrupted, or it could be using a format that is not compatible with windows." I thought BDICON was supposed to enable Windows Explorer support? I went and looked it up, and someone said it was for compatibility with the Blu-ray discs, yet I'm unable to do anything.

Anyone know how I can get this drive to work? I'd like to be able to rip my blu-ray movies to my hard drive but I can't even read Blu-ray discs to begin with.

I believe I've read that you have to have a UDF 2.50 driver installed...

Any idea where I can obtain this? I've been googling around for this and I can't seem to find it.

Edit: I found a thread here that showed where to get the UDF 2.50 driver, but the article in question had linked to rapidshare and rapidshare no longer hosts this file. Anyone else have it?

The program is telling me that the UDF 2.50 driver cannot be installed on this machine -- could this have something to do with the already existing BDICON software?


Edit: I've removed the Sony BDIcon, rebooted, and tried installing the UDF driver -- nothing.

EDIT: Unzip, Right-click on INF, Install, reboot... Should work fine ;)

Also, is there a better way to rip than using AnyDVD HD to decrypt the disc followed by ripping it using the Blu-Ray disc ripper? It's running extremely slow -- on the order of 1 - 2 mb/s

Uhhh, why do you run the disc through Blu-Ray disc ripper after AnyDVD HD decrypted it?? It has to be decrypted only once ;).

I set disc ripper to rip only (without decrypting it) without realizing that I could just copy and paste the files to my hard drive. Now, I just find the movie itself and copy that only to my hard drive instead of all the extra junk I never use.

Yes, using "Blu-ray Disc Ripper" on top of AnyDVD to copy Blu-ray movie to hard drive does not provide any advantage over copying using Windows Explorer (except, maybe, nice progress window :)), but on the other hand, I do see any reason why it could slow down the copying that much (your original complaint couple of posts above). I'm pretty sure that if you measure time it takes to copy movie using "Blu-ray Disc Ripper" and directly using Windows Explorer, numbers will be pretty much the same. I understand you use Windows XP, as you had to install UDF 2.5 driver. Vista's UI shows copying speed, so you could compare speeds directly (without measuring time).
